Health and education disparities is a problem that affects us all.  You can help to improve the equity at our schools and health care institutions by supporting the research, education, and outreach efforts of CIHED and the diversity efforts of PADRE.

The Center for Investigations of Health and Education Disparities strives to improve health and education equity in our communities by encouraging disparity-reducing research, working with schools and educators to find ways to eliminate the education gaps, and partnering with  community leaders on culturally-sensitive projects that improve the daily lives of San Diego's under-served communities.

Pathways for the Advancement of Diversity in Research and Education (PADRE) supports programs that promote diversity in the sciences by providing motivation, mentorship, and training opportunities to under-represented minority students, students with disabilities, and students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. With the help of individual donors and corporate sponsors, PADRE is helping to create a future scientific workforce that will better represent the global community.
